The World Academy of Agricultural Sciences has opened applications for its 2026 Youth Research Grant Program, which provides funding and mentorship support for early-career researchers pursuing innovative projects in agricultural sciences.

The program offers grants of up to $25,000 for individual researchers and $50,000 for collaborative teams, with a focus on projects that address food security, sustainable agriculture, or climate adaptation in developing regions.

Eligible applicants must be under 35 years of age and hold a PhD or equivalent degree in agricultural sciences or a related field. Priority will be given to researchers based in or studying challenges relevant to low- and middle-income countries.

'Investing in young researchers is investing in the future of agriculture,' said Dr. Patricia Williams, Chair of the WAAS Academic Committee. 'This program has launched the careers of many outstanding scientists who are now making significant contributions to global food security.'

Past grant recipients have gone on to publish their findings in top-tier journals, secure additional funding from major research councils, and develop innovations that are being adopted by farming communities worldwide.

The application deadline is July 15, 2026. Successful applicants will be announced in September 2026.
