WAAS Partners with World Red Swastika Society: US$1,500,000 in Special Funding to Empower Global Food Security Philanthropic Initiatives

World Red Swastika Society

On August 13, the signing ceremony for the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between the World Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the World Red Swastika Society was held in New York, USA. Professor Harrison Lin, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the World Academy of Agricultural Sciences, signed the cooperation document on behalf of the Academy, marking the official launch of this public welfare collaboration project aimed at jointly advancing global food security.

Pursuant to the Cooperation Agreement hereby signed, the World Red Swastika Society intends to make a dedicated contribution of US$1,500,000 to fully support the World Academy of Agricultural Sciences' Special Public Welfare Initiative on Food Security. To ensure the standardized implementation of the project and the efficient, compliant utilization of the funds, the two parties will jointly establish a Special Fund Management Committee, which will be solely responsible for the overall allocation and deployment of the funding, the review of fund usage, full-process supervision, as well as all aspects of project execution, progress monitoring, and outcome evaluation—thereby establishing a standardized and transparent project management system.

Chairman's Speech: Food Security as a Fundamental Global Priority

Professor Harrison Lin delivered a speech at the signing ceremony. He emphasized that food security is a fundamental issue crucial to human survival and development, as well as to global stability and prosperity; it also represents a core priority in the current global philanthropic and agricultural development sectors. Currently, the global food system continues to face multiple challenges—including climate change, resource scarcity, and uneven regional development—making the task of ensuring food security both daunting and long-term. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the World Red Swastika Society for its philanthropic commitment and steadfast support, and he highlighted that the Society would leverage this strategic partnership as a significant opportunity to fully utilize its professional expertise in agricultural research, technological development, and the commercialization of research outcomes. The Society aims to diligently implement various food security-related philanthropic initiatives, strictly regulate the fund utilization process, and maximize the value of the allocated funds. By harnessing robust agricultural technologies to boost, stabilize, and optimize global food production, the Society intends to contribute its professional expertise to strengthening the global food security framework and addressing regional food supply and demand challenges.

The formal implementation of this strategic partnership marks the successful establishment by the World Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the World Red Swastika Society of a new collaborative platform integrating 'technology and public welfare.' This initiative officially establishes a cooperative mechanism between the two parties in the fields of global food security, agricultural public welfare assistance, and sustainable agricultural development. Moving forward, the two parties will establish a regular communication and collaboration mechanism, integrate agricultural science and technology resources with public welfare platform resources, and focus on key areas—including enhancing grain production capacity, promoting the adoption of agricultural technologies, supporting vulnerable agricultural regions, and advancing green agriculture development—to continuously advance the implementation and effectiveness of a series of public welfare projects aimed at food security. These efforts will effectively address the critical challenges facing global agricultural development, support the green, healthy, and sustainable advancement of agriculture worldwide, and jointly safeguard the fundamental food security interests of all humanity.
